Baby's First Year clients also receive a generous discount on a la carte products and priority scheduling throughout the year!
The Baby Plan Collection is $850 and Includes 4 milestone sessions:
Newborn (in the first fourteen days of life)
Welcoming your newborn into the world is one of the most miraculous events in life. Let us capture this momentous occasion and preserve those tiny little details forever. Because this magical stage of life passes in the blink of an eye, newborn portraits are captured during the first two weeks of life while your little one is still well-fed, sleepy and content. We will keep your due date on file and stay in touch with you as the exciting day approaches, making adjustments to fit you in at just the perfect time. This session includes a 1-2 hour session in your home or your hospital room. Siblings, parents and grandparents are welcome at this session.
Sitting up (4 months)
When your baby is ready for sitting but not yet on the go, we will capture what I like to call the roly-poly happy phase. It's that time when they begin to show those big grins and belly laughs that you can't help but laugh along with. Sitting babies make the best models since they can't crawl away and are so amused by a game of peek-a-boo! This session includes a 45-minute session at your choice of in-home or on location (weather permitting). Siblings and parents are welcome at this session.
Crawling/Pulling Up (9 months)
Your little one may have mastered crawling at this stage and may even be pulling up to stand at this session. This is the perfect time to document this exploratory stage and capture their expressions and that adorable toddling walk. This allows for a number of new photo opportunities, indoors and out. This session includes a 45-minute session at your choice of in-home or on location (weather permitting). Siblings and parents are welcome at this session.
First Birthday (10-14 months)
The first birthday is one of the greatest milestones for each family. At this age, your toddler will be standing, walking and ready to take on the world! We will document that wonderful energy and joy that brings so much light into your lives. This session can be used to document their child's first taste of cake (AKA a cake smash) or their first birthday party so that you can enjoy the party with family and friends! This session includes a 45-minute session at your choice of in-home or on location (weather permitting). Siblings and parents are welcome at this session.
The Baby's First Year Collection also includes our outstanding customer service, generous product discounts, priority scheduling and flexible rescheduling within the baby's first year. From your newborn session through your baby's first birthday, my goal is to make the entire process as easy as possible for you. From offering professional hair and make up, to helping you choose your session locations and choosing the best prints from your sessions, I can help you with every detail. In addition, I offer sessions to meet every family's needs and budget. You have the option of booking just a newborn session ($200), a maternity and newborn session ($350), or any of the milestone sessions listed above ($200 each). From your baby's first smiles and giggles to the adventure and curiosity of childhood, I would love to capture your family's love and turn it into beautiful works of art! Well, it's been awhile since my last blog but I promise I've been working hard on some exciting new things for this year! One of the many things on my to-do list was to create a list of questions (and answers) that you might be wondering about MSP. So without further ado, here are the top ten questions I get asked the most-
1. I love your portraits, how do I schedule a session?
Visit my contact page, and send me a quick email! I will contact you and we'll get your session on the calendar! I don't ask for a deposit prior to the session to hold your date. I do require the session fee in full before your session. I accept cash, PayPal or personal check.
Not quite sure yet? I realize this is not a small investment so I'm more than happy to discuss your ideas or concerns about your session. I want you to be enthusiastic about booking a session and feel like it's money well spent. Contact me and we'll talk!
2. When is the best time for photos?
I like to schedule outdoor sessions as far away from midday as possible. This could be early morning, or in the last hour or two before the sunset; these times have the softest light. Newborn sessions are best scheduled a bit closer to midday due to their length and to have the most light available indoors. But all the beautiful light in the world won't make a difference if that is during nap time and the kids are tired, so we'll talk to determine the best time for your family.
3. What should we wear for our photos?
For a family session, I suggest that you imagine you are putting together one outfit- all coordinating but not too matchy-matchy. I suggest starting with the most difficult person to dress (in my family that is me), then coordinate that outfit with the rest of the family's outfits. Avoid large logos or patterns that can be distracting. If you use Pinterest, you can check out some of my favorite ideas here. It is a lot harder than they make it look, but hang in there, it's worth the effort! And you can always ask me for extra help!
For an in-home newborn session, plan for more simple and neutral outfits- imagine a polished version of your most comfortable self. It's important that you feel comfortable- not squeezing into your pre-pregnancy jeans at home on your couch! Some examples might be comfy jeans and a blouse or sweater, or a casual dress and a polo shirt and jeans for the guys.
4. What is a newborn session like?
Newborn sessions typically take place in your home, as this is where both mom and baby are most comfortable. I am also available to come to the hospital to capture those first precious days. My primary focus for these sessions are images of the baby and your new family. This can include posed and prop photos as well as candid photos of the baby. I bring a minimal amount of neutral props including blankets and wraps, and I love incorporating your special items and props. Once those images are complete, I begin to capture images of the family and the nursery. Newborn sessions usually take 2 hours, this allows for plenty of time for feeding and soothing. If experience has taught me anything, it's that babies can't be rushed.
5. What is a family session like?
Family sessions are taken outdoors at the location of your choice. If you're not sure where to go, don't worry. I scout parks and locations throughout St. Charles and St. Louis county and can suggest the perfect location for your session. Sessions are either 30-45 minutes or 60-90 minutes, depending on which session you choose. I usually bring very few props with me- maybe a blanket and a small bench or chair. Once you show up for your session, your job is done! I will lead your family through the location, taking photos as we go. I capture both formal posed shots as well as candid photos. I love connecting with children, and it usually helps if only one adult is directing, so I'll take over the job of coaxing smilies out of your little ones. Since you'll likely be in the photos too, I just need you to relax and enjoy spending time with your family. Fair warning, I will likely make a fool of myself- singing silly songs and telling bad jokes =)
6. I can't decide between a regular session or a mini session! What's the difference?
I offer 30 minute sessions for small families (up to four family members) who are looking for updated family photos or special announcement type of photos. These sessions utilize one location and do not allow for outfit changes. I restrict these to locations within 20 miles of 63366.
Full sessions are perfect for families looking for anything more. These sessions allow for more variety in locations and larger groups of people, since we can spend more time changing clothes, walking around, or arranging different groupings. There are also more possibilities for locations, since theses sessions are limited to anyplace within 30 miles of St. Louis.
7. So what happens if the weather doesn't cooperate?
While I do my best to monitor the weather forecast prior to scheduling as well as the week before our sessions, Mother Nature often has a mind of her own. Since the weather here can change so quickly, I will give you a call an hour or so before our session IF the weather suddenly turns bad and I feel we need to reschedule. If you don't hear from me, we are still good to go. I know that we have both put considerable time into preparing for our session, so I don't take this lightly. However, if I feel that the weather is unsafe for your session, I will do my best to let you know as soon as possible and we will reschedule your session.
8. What happens after my session?
About two weeks after your session, i will email you a link to your photos in a password protected gallery with your images. You can view, download and share your images from this gallery. Once they have been downloaded, you can save them however you like: in the cloud, burn a DVD or upload them to be printed. Additionally you will be mailed a disc with all the images and a print release that allows you to print your photos, anytime, anywhere.
9. Can I print my photos myself or do I need to buy prints from you?
Every one of my sessions comes with a print release so that you can print your images, anywhere, anytime- they're yours for life! Occassionally, I will offer print products included in your session fee, these are fulfilled at my choice of high quality professional labs. While I can point you in the right direction of high-quality print labs, you are under no obligation to purchase prints from me. Just let me know what products you are looking for and I will be happy to help you find the right vendor for your prints!
10. I don't want my photos on your website or other places online.
Not a problem! Just let me know!
And one more bonus question--
11. I LOVE my photos! What do I do now?
That's wonderful!! It makes me so happy to hear that you LOVE your photos! Since my business is built on referrals, the greatest compliment you can give me is to refer me to your awesome friends. In fact, if you share my name and your friends book a session with me, I'll give you $25 off your next photo session! AND I'll give your friend a free 8 x 10 from their session! Some other things that truly help my business are: sharing your photos online (via FB or a blog or Pinterest), liking my FB page and writing a review of my business!
Don't see your question here? Send me an email and I'll be happy to answer it!!
Last month I was honored to photograph sweet Gemma's first birthday party! Can we just start by saying this party was so amazing!? Her mom, Mandy has the best decorating sense and pulled out all the stops for Gemma's first birthday! The theme was ‘A day at the races’ and had so many fun details: horse cupcakes, a bounce house, an adult beverage station with mint julep directions, mini horse party favors, and fun horse racing facts all around the house and so much more!! I think everyone had a blast!
As the youngest of three, Gemma has been hitting all those first milestones faster than you can imagine! She is cruising around the house without a problem! I was amazed at how well she was walking and climbing up on toys and stairs! As a mom myself, I wanted to say- slow down, stay little for a little longer! Wasn't I just taking photos of you in the hospital yesterday!? I know her own mom is probably thinking the same thing!
When it was time for cake, big sister Gianna and big brother Glenn, encouraged Gemma with kisses and gentle nudges to dig into her cupcake! She was a little timid at first, but quickly dug in!
Glenn decided to get as messy as Gemma =) What a silly boy!
Gianna looks absolutely beautiful in this shot! Even she wasn't immune to the fun cupcake messiness though =) Mandy and Rick, thank you for inviting me into your lives for the past year! I have loved watching your adorable children grow up and can’t wait to see you all again!
You may remember this wonderful family from earlier this year, when I got to photograph their little boy Gavin for a surprise pregnancy announcement. I love being part of surprises!! Jessica and Lee decided on one more surprise-- they waited to find out the baby's gender until the delivery!!? WOW, I totally would not be able to wait, but I am so impressed that they did! Last week, I finally got to meet and snuggle their new beautiful baby GIRL, Josie. Isn't she just gorgeous!?
So I definitely came home from this session with baby fever! Can you handle those adorable lips and little fingers?! Oh man, I loved every minute of rocking and snuggling this little sweetheart!
A mere 17 months separate these two and I can already see how much they love one another! They are so lucky to have a sibling so close in age to play and grow up alongside!
I LOVE this mermaid outfit!! My favorite part is the little seashell bra top! And the little starfish headband! I might need to find one in my size (although I wouldn't look this adorable!). You can find a similar one here =)
Jessica and Lee congratulations on your beautiful baby girl! Thank you for letting me snuggle her and take her first photos! I'm honored to be your photographer!
I was thrilled to take photos of my long time friend and her gorgeous family while I was in Chicago a few weeks ago. Linzey and I have known each other since we were in middle school and I just love her sweet family, and it was so fun to see them again! I am so excited that our schedules and the weather worked out so wonderfully! The temps were around 75 degrees that day!! Perfect, I tell you!!
Aren't these two girls just the cutest? You might be able to tell that one of the girls was a bit shy in the beginning of our session, which I think is completely adorable. This is one of my favorite parts of my job, getting shy kids to open up to me. I always follow the kids lead during a session, sometimes they need a little time and space to adjust to a giant camera pointed at them. Other kids ham it up for me the second I get my camera out! I love getting to capture each unique personality and of course, capturing that smile when they do open up!
The last time I saw this little cutie, she was just a few days old, and now she is practically walking! It was such fun to see the transformation from infant to toddler! I love her sweet and somewhat nonchalant expression here, she’s like “yeah I’m standing, so what?!” She was crawling around in the grass, blowing raspberries with her big sister and exploring the world as only a ten month old can: by sticking everything in her mouth! So adorable!
Can you believe this gorgeous location? Chicago is one of my favorite places to visit and when we were planning this session, I immediately fell in love with the idea of the city skyline as the background. While I’ve never photographed here before, I loved getting that spark of creativity that comes with shooting in a new location. I think this might be one of my favorite locations of all time, I just wish it was about 4 hours closer to me!
Linzey and I are that special kind of friends that you could not see for a few months or a few years and when we get together again, its like only a moment has passed! It was so wonderful to catch up with her and her family during our brief visit.
Linzey and Andy, thank you for letting me capture these images of you and your precious girls! I can't wait to see you guys again!
